Analisi della Bundesliga

All four recorded Bayern Bundesliga matches reached double-digit corners, with totals of 12, 11, 12 and 11. Bayern supplied nine corners in three games and 11 in the other, so the sequence has depended primarily on their own production. Schalke contributed none in the 0–0 draw, yet Bayern still carried the total to 11. That is a clearer explanation than linking the corner pattern to Bayern’s high-scoring wins.

The two 12-corner matches were constructed differently over time. Stuttgart’s game had seven corners before half-time and five afterwards; Elversberg’s had only three before the interval and nine afterwards. Bayern generated eight of those second-half corners at Elversberg. A slow start therefore did not prevent a high final count in that match, but it required a substantial later increase. The totals also cleared ten without a wide cushion: an opponent providing little and Bayern dropping below their recorded nine-corner level would change the picture quickly. For the next matchup, sustained Bayern corner production is the key condition. Expected goals or a comfortable winning margin are less useful, because the same corner range survived both no goals and seven Bayern goals.

Augsburg’s four recorded Bundesliga matches all reached three goals, but the scoring burden was distributed differently. They supplied all three against Schalke, four of five at Frankfurt, half of four against Leverkusen and two of five at Bremen. Combined xG ranged from about 3.35 to 5.06, so the sequence contains meaningful opportunities rather than only a run of unlikely goals. The repeatable question is which team will generate those opportunities in the next matchup.

Schalke’s dismissal helped create a favourable second half for Augsburg, whereas Leverkusen and Bremen did most of the shooting in their games. Bremen generated 2.78 xG and 11 targets, eventually overturning a 2–0 deficit. Frankfurt generated more xG than Augsburg despite losing 4–1; an own goal and Augsburg’s efficient finishing widened the score. These distinctions matter if the next opponent can limit Augsburg’s breaks and restarts. Their own xG stayed close to 1.1 in three matches, so another high total could require the opponent to carry more of the scoring than the recent Augsburg goal column implies. An open chance environment is supported in this sample, but the exact share of goals is much less stable.

Augsburg scored at least twice in each recorded Bundesliga match, but the chance supply behind that sequence changed sharply after the Schalke game. They generated 3.52 xG and 13 targets in that 3–0 win, which included a second-half numerical advantage. At Frankfurt, against Leverkusen and at Bremen, their team xG was 1.13, 1.09 and 1.12. Those much smaller totals produced four, two and two goals respectively, making conversion an important part of the apparent consistency.

Frankfurt’s own goal supplied one of the four, while Augsburg also scored a direct free kick worth about 0.07 xG. Against Leverkusen, Gregoritsch converted a substantial assisted chance and then a corner chance worth about 0.09. At Bremen, Fellhauer finished a high-value fast break, followed by a corner goal from Brackelmann. These are identifiable scoring routes, but they do not establish a broad supply of several clear chances every week. For a future two-goal return, a good transition opportunity or productive restart may be essential if Augsburg again create only seven or eight shots. The Schalke volume supports a different scenario and should not be blended indiscriminately with the lower-possession games.

Augsburg scored in all four recorded Bundesliga matches and conceded in three. The exception, a 3–0 win over Schalke, was not a match without defensive danger: Schalke put five shots on target and generated 1.27 xG before half-time, including an early saved chance worth about 0.37. Their attacking output fell later, with Schallenberg dismissed in the 62nd minute, but the clean sheet also depended on surviving meaningful chances before that advantage.

The other opponents sustained their threat. Frankfurt produced eight targets and 2.22 xG, Leverkusen five targets and 2.40 xG, and Bremen 11 targets and 2.78 xG. Augsburg took a 2–0 lead at Bremen but eventually lost 3–2 as the hosts generated 2.31 second-half xG. Their own scoring has been more efficient than the underlying supply in several matches: two goals at Bremen came from seven shots and 1.12 xG, while two against Leverkusen came from eight shots and 1.09 xG. The defensive evidence supports a credible opposition goal, but a future shared scoring result also requires Augsburg to keep converting a smaller number of openings. Their scoring streak should not conceal that asymmetry.

Augsburg won corners 11–3 against Schalke, then lost the count 4–9 at Frankfurt and 2–14 against Leverkusen before drawing it 2–2 at Bremen. Their three-goal Schalke victory is therefore a poor standalone guide to future corner superiority. That match included a 62nd-minute Schalke dismissal and a 7–0 second-half corner count; it offered a much more favourable environment for sustained Augsburg attacks than the other fixtures.

Against Leverkusen, Augsburg scored twice despite only two corners and 37% possession. At Bremen, they also scored twice with two corners while holding 34% of the ball. Goals from relatively few openings can keep Augsburg competitive without building a strong corner count. Frankfurt present another useful distinction: Augsburg won the match 4–1 but lost corners by five, because the hosts continued accumulating attempts and corners even while conceding. A future Augsburg corner margin needs evidence that they can spend enough time attacking and restrict the opponent’s repeat pressure. Their scoring capacity cannot supply that evidence on its own, and the Schalke margin should be treated in the context of the numerical advantage rather than as a normal expectation.

Augsburg’s recorded Bundesliga corner totals were 14 against Schalke, 13 at Frankfurt, 16 against Leverkusen and only four at Bremen. The Bremen match still contained five goals, 27 shots and 15 targets, so the low corner count cannot be explained by a lack of attacking activity. Bremen took 13 second-half shots and scored three times without winning a corner after the interval. Attacks were reaching attempts and goals without producing the repeated restarts seen in the higher-corner games.

The three high totals also had different suppliers. Augsburg carried the Schalke total with 11 corners in a match involving an opposition dismissal. Frankfurt supplied nine of 13, and Leverkusen 14 of 16. Augsburg’s own contribution fell to two against both Leverkusen and Bremen, but the match totals differed by 12 because of the opponent. That makes the next opponent’s corner production central when Augsburg are expected to have less of the ball. A busy opposing attack can support a large total, but Bremen demonstrate that shots and possession are not interchangeable with corners. The stronger case requires evidence of the opponent repeatedly winning corners, not simply attacking more often.

Frankfurt’s recorded Bundesliga matches finished with six, five, four and four goals. Combined xG was approximately 3.31 at Union, 3.35 against Augsburg, 4.19 at Mainz and 5.27 against Freiburg. The highest score therefore came in the lowest of those chance totals, while the Freiburg draw contained the strongest combined opportunity. The common feature is meaningful threat from both teams; the exact number of goals has also depended heavily on finishing and individual events.

Union saw Frankfurt score three times from three targets before the hosts recovered late. Augsburg’s four included a Frankfurt own goal and a direct free kick worth about 0.07 xG. Mainz missed a penalty, reducing the final return from a match with substantial opportunities, while Freiburg generated 22 shots and seven targets but scored twice. These distinctions support an expectation of chances more consistently than an expectation of another five- or six-goal score. Frankfurt’s repeated half-time leads did not close games down, yet the next opponent still needs a credible attacking contribution. If it cannot reproduce the pressure or valuable openings in this sample, the recent totals alone overstate the case for a similarly open result.

Frankfurt scored three at Union, one against Augsburg, three at Mainz and two against Freiburg in the recorded Bundesliga sample. The one-goal game was not their weakest attacking display by volume: Augsburg allowed 22 shots, eight on target and 2.22 xG, all above Frankfurt’s corresponding totals in the three-goal Union draw. Against Union, Ebnoutalib scored all three Frankfurt targets. Repeating that efficiency is a different proposition from repeatedly creating enough chances for several goals.

The Mainz and Freiburg games offer a more specific account of where the threat came from. At Mainz, Uzun scored from a high-value fast-break chance and later from a throw-in set piece, while Burkardt added a goal before half-time. Against Freiburg, Ebnoutalib converted a chance worth about 0.92 xG and Burkardt scored following a corner. Frankfurt created only ten total shots there but still reached 2.18 xG. These matches show why shot count alone can undersell an attack receiving good individual opportunities. For a future two-goal expectation, the important support is access to those valuable chances; three goals from three targets at Union should not become the assumed conversion rate, and the Augsburg blank after an early goal should not be read as a lack of threat.

Both teams scored in all four recorded Frankfurt Bundesliga matches, and the underlying threat was not confined to one unusually open game. Frankfurt generated 1.47 to 2.22 xG in each, while opponents generated 1.13 to 3.09. They led at half-time in every match but still conceded afterwards in all four. That makes protecting a lead an important part of the analysis: an early Frankfurt goal has not consistently shut down the opponent’s route back into the game.

Union produced nine second-half targets and eventually recovered from 3–1 down. Freiburg generated 3.09 xG across the match and equalised shortly after the interval. Mainz scored only in the 89th minute, but had already missed a penalty before half-time, so their late goal did not represent their first serious opening. Augsburg’s four-goal return included an own goal and finishing from modest-value attempts; nevertheless, their seven second-half targets showed a real increase in attacking activity. The recurring concern is opponent access to chances after Frankfurt establish a lead. For another shared scoring result, Frankfurt’s own chance creation still matters, but the defensive side of the case has support beyond the bare run of scorelines.

Frankfurt scored three at Union and Mainz but produced only two and five corners respectively, losing the count 2–5 at Union and edging it 5–4 at Mainz. Their largest corner advantage came in the 1–4 defeat to Augsburg, where they won corners 9–4. Against Freiburg they scored twice but lost corners 3–5. These results separate efficient scoring from repeated territorial pressure: finding goals has not necessarily meant winning enough corners for a substantial margin.

At Augsburg, Frankfurt took 22 shots, held 60% possession and added five corners after half-time while trying to recover the game. Against Union, they held a half-time lead but generated only one second-half corner while Union took four and put nine attempts on target. Mainz was different again: Frankfurt won first-half corners 4–1, then lost the second-half count 1–3 after beginning the period two goals ahead. The Freiburg match brought only three Frankfurt first-half shots and one corner despite two goals. A future margin therefore depends on whether Frankfurt can keep accumulating attacks, not merely whether they are expected to score first. An opponent that can regain territory after conceding may erase an early corner advantage.

Every recorded Frankfurt Bundesliga match contained at least four goals, but only the Augsburg meeting reached ten corners. The totals were seven at Union, 13 against Augsburg, nine at Mainz and eight against Freiburg. This is a useful warning against treating an open scoreline as an automatic corner signal. Frankfurt’s scoring at Union and Freiburg came from relatively few targets and modest corner production, so goals could accumulate without repeated corner-winning attacks.

The Augsburg match was the exception because Frankfurt supplied nine corners themselves, supported by 22 shots and 60% possession. Augsburg added four, the same contribution Mainz later supplied in a match that stayed below ten because Frankfurt took only five. Union and Freiburg each supplied five, but Frankfurt added only two and three. The opponent’s contribution was therefore fairly similar across these games; the changing Frankfurt count largely separated the high total from the rest. For a future match, expecting both sides to score is not enough. A stronger high-corner case needs a reason for Frankfurt to reproduce their Augsburg-level pressure, or an opponent capable of contributing substantially more than the four or five seen here.
