Analyse de la Ligue 1

Angers lost 0–2 to Lille but won the corners 8–3. They were already two goals behind at halftime; after the break they took 14 shots, had five blocked and added five corners while Lille added none. The Rennes defeat followed a similar separation between score and pressure. Angers fell 0–2 behind early, eventually lost 1–2, but won corners 12–6, with 11 of their 19 attempts blocked. Those matches show how an unsuccessful attack can still accumulate corners while repeatedly confronting defenders.

The 2–0 win over Troyes reversed the corner balance completely: Angers took only two against Troyes’ 11. Angers generated 2.26 xG from 12 attempts, including two valuable assisted scoring chances, while Troyes supplied the larger shot and corner counts. A win in the scoring exchanges therefore did not mean Angers sustained the greater volume of corner-producing attacks. Their 10–7 corner advantage at Auxerre also illustrates the importance of the opposing contribution: even a double-figure Angers count produced a margin of only three. For the next fixture, expecting Angers to win the match is insufficient; a substantial corner margin needs repeated Angers pressure and an opponent whose own corner output stays limited.
