PLAYER GOALS

Louis Mafouta: low shot counts have still contained major transition chances

Louis Mafouta failed to score against Nice and Lens, but those blanks were not evidence that Le Mans created nothing for him. His only Nice attempt was a fast-break chance worth approximately 0.76 xG that hit the post. Against Lens, another transition attempt worth about 0.93 xG also struck the post, alongside a modest saved set-piece effort. One or two shots can therefore carry substantial scoring opportunity when Le Mans release him into a valuable attacking situation.

His Rennes double combined an assisted chance worth about 0.82 xG with a penalty. Both goals came before Le Mans’ 68th-minute dismissal, so the numerical disadvantage later in the game did not create those chances. The Brest goal was a less demanding statistical platform, coming from a fast-break attempt worth roughly 0.13 xG, while the Lorient blank included late transition opportunities without a finish. The repeated transition route is more informative than simply labelling his recent goalless matches poor form. For another fixture, an opponent allowing Mafouta valuable breakaway service can support a scoring chance even if Le Mans are unlikely to generate many total shots; a game cutting off that outlet changes the outlook much more.

À surveiller

Focus on whether Le Mans can release Mafouta into valuable transition opportunities. Nice and Lens show why a low attempt count or a recent blank need not mean weak scoring service, but those few chances still require conversion.

PLAYER GOALS

Florian Thauvin: all three recorded goals were penalties, but the Le Mans blank contained real open-play threat

Florian Thauvin’s two goals against Auxerre and one against Strasbourg all came from penalties. Against Strasbourg, the penalty was his only shot; against Auxerre, his only other attempt was a modest assisted chance that was saved. Auxerre also played with ten men from the 35th minute, although Thauvin’s first penalty preceded the dismissal. Those goals demonstrate his recorded penalty role, not a run of repeated open-play finishes that can be assumed to continue without another award.

The seven-shot Le Mans blank offers a more useful view of his non-penalty threat. Thauvin had an assisted chance worth approximately 0.39 xG and a fast-break chance worth 0.30 saved, within a total of 0.84 xG. That was materially stronger service than his three attempts against Lorient, worth about 0.23 xG, or his two misses against Monaco, worth about 0.12. Consequently, a goalless appearance can provide better evidence for a future open-play goal than one of the earlier scoring matches. The favorable condition is Lens creating valuable assisted chances or transition openings for him, with a penalty remaining a separate possible route rather than the core expectation.

À surveiller

Assess Thauvin’s non-penalty chances separately from his penalty goals. Le Mans supplied two meaningful openings; Lorient and Monaco supplied much less. That difference is more useful for the next match than simply counting his recent goals.

PLAYER GOALS

Esteban Lepaul: the Le Mans double depended heavily on a late penalty

Esteban Lepaul scored twice from six attempts against Le Mans, but approximately 0.79 of his 1.08 xG came from a late penalty. His earlier goal was an assisted attempt worth about 0.07 xG. Le Mans had also lost a player after 68 minutes, before the penalty arrived. The double therefore combines efficient finishing with a special late opportunity; it does not establish that six ordinary attempts reliably provide two-goal quality.

Against Angers, Lepaul again took six shots and failed to score, yet his non-penalty opportunities were stronger overall. Three attempts were saved, including a fast-break chance worth about 0.28 xG and an assisted chance worth 0.20. His 29-minute Lyon appearance also contained a missed 0.33-xG chance, a shot cleared off the line and a saved transition attempt. That short outing offered more meaningful shooting than the 78-minute Marseille appearance, which contained only two modest chances and no target. For a future match, expected minutes still matter, but the more useful scoring condition is whether Rennes can supply valuable assisted or transition openings. A recent double or a long appearance cannot substitute for that service.

À surveiller

Look for the quality of Lepaul’s non-penalty service. The Angers and Lyon blanks included usable chances; the Marseille outing offered much less. Treat another penalty as an additional route, rather than the assumed basis of his scoring.

PLAYER GOALS

Kamory Doumbia: corners and transitions have supplied the valuable chances behind his goals

Kamory Doumbia’s goals against Le Mans and Toulouse both came from corner situations, with the scoring chances worth approximately 0.58 and 0.38 xG. His Le Havre double followed different routes: a penalty, then a fast-break chance worth about 0.58. Le Havre’s dismissal after 47 minutes preceded that transition goal and another later fast-break attempt. The four-goal sequence therefore combined valuable set-piece service, a penalty and opportunities against a reduced opponent; it was not simply repeated ordinary open-play shooting.

His PSG blank still contained a strong scoring opportunity. Doumbia hit the post from a chance worth approximately 0.53 xG and had another assisted attempt saved, generating about 0.80 xG overall. That is very different from Auxerre, where he played 90 minutes without a recorded shot. A future scoring assessment should preserve that distinction: PSG was a case of useful service not becoming a goal, while Auxerre removed the personal chance supply. The more promising opponent is one allowing Brest to find Doumbia with valuable corner chances or transition openings. A higher shot count composed mainly of difficult attempts would not reproduce the quality behind his goals.

À surveiller

Look for the specific service that has created Doumbia’s valuable chances—corners and transitions—while qualifying the Le Havre numerical advantage. The PSG post is evidence of opportunity; the Auxerre no-shot appearance is a supply concern.

PLAYER SHOTS ON TARGET

Amine Gouiri: Marseille must make him the finisher before target counts can recover

Amine Gouiri reached three shots on target against both Strasbourg and Paris FC, but those totals came with five attempts in each match. Against Monaco, his only shot was blocked after 80 minutes; against Rennes, both attempts missed; against PSG, he had no recorded shot across 90 minutes. These are different failures. Monaco and PSG restricted his personal shooting supply, while Rennes allowed two openings that he failed to put on target. Assuming the same improvement is needed in all three would miss the cause.

The Strasbourg high also included a penalty after the opponent had been reduced to ten men in the 59th minute. Gouiri had already scored and registered another target before the dismissal, so the whole performance should not be attributed to the advantage, but the final three-target figure includes that special opportunity. Paris FC offers a cleaner example of repeated shooting without a penalty: Gouiri scored twice and had another assisted attempt saved, with chances arriving in both halves. For the next fixture, the stronger target expectation needs Marseille to keep supplying him as the endpoint of attacks. Team possession or an improved team score is insufficient if the shots continue to fall elsewhere.

À surveiller

Look for repeated Gouiri attempts from Marseille’s service, as against Paris FC. A Monaco- or PSG-style shortage of personal shots is a more fundamental constraint than the finishing in the two-miss Rennes appearance.

PLAYER SHOTS ON TARGET

Lassine Sinayoko: accurate attempts have not always meant strong scoring chances

Lassine Sinayoko put both attempts on target against Lyon, but together they were worth only approximately 0.06 xG. Both were saved. Against Troyes, his single attempt missed the target yet carried about 0.42 xG. The Lyon performance was better for accurate-shot volume while the Troyes chance was far more valuable for scoring. Those outcomes should not be treated as interchangeable evidence for the next match.

His four-target, three-goal Marseille appearance had stronger service through several routes: an early fast break, a corner chance, an assisted save and a late penalty. Nice, however, supplied five shots with only one target—the penalty he scored. The other four efforts were blocked or missed. Strasbourg produced another five-shot appearance, with two saved assisted attempts followed by three blocks. The range therefore comes from both access to shooting and whether those efforts get through defenders and stay accurate; penalty opportunities can also change the final count substantially. For a future fixture, repeated assisted opportunities support targets, but the Lyon comparison shows why they need a separate quality check before turning that expectation into a goal claim.

À surveiller

For Sinayoko’s targets, look for attempts that can get through the defense. For scoring, demand stronger chance quality than the two Lyon saves; the Marseille performance also included a penalty that should not be assumed to recur.

PLAYER SHOTS ON TARGET

Hákon Haraldsson: three shots can mean three targets—or none when defenders stop them

Hákon Haraldsson took three shots against Angers and put all three on target, but all were saved. Two occurred in the 74th minute, with the earlier attempt coming from a corner. Against Nice, he again took three shots, but every one was blocked. That leaves the same headline shot count with completely different implications for targets: the Nice failure was getting attempts through the defense, rather than merely the goalkeeper stopping accurate finishes.

His other zero-target appearances had a different cause. Haraldsson recorded no shot in 90 minutes against Toulouse and none in 61 minutes against Troyes. More accurate finishing cannot solve an absence of attempts, and the full Toulouse appearance shows why extra minutes alone are not enough. Against PSG, he scored from an assisted chance worth about 0.12 xG and missed a throw-in situation chance, demonstrating that a target can arrive even in a match where opportunities are limited. The useful condition for the next fixture is Lille creating shooting access for Haraldsson with room to get the effort through. A return to three attempts would be encouraging for volume, but the Nice example means it cannot be translated directly into three targets.

À surveiller

Separate shooting involvement from shooting access. Toulouse and Troyes restricted Haraldsson’s attempts; Nice allowed attempts but blocked every one. The stronger target setup needs Lille to resolve both constraints.

PLAYER GOALS

Ferran Torres: PSG have supplied valuable chances in short appearances, but finishing has varied sharply

Ferran Torres scored twice in 45 minutes against Rennes, converting both of his attempts. One was a valuable assisted chance worth approximately 0.64 xG; the other was worth about 0.13. Against Lille he played 72 minutes and missed all three attempts, although they carried approximately 0.63 xG together. The Lille blank was therefore not equivalent to his 27-minute Monaco appearance with no shot. One involved service that was not converted; the other offered no recorded shooting opportunity at all.

His goal against Brest presents the opposite caution: it came from his only attempt, worth roughly 0.04 xG, across 77 minutes. A goal did not mean the match supplied a strong repeatable scoring platform. Against Marseille, Torres generated three attempts in 31 minutes, scoring from an assisted 0.25-xG chance and having another saved before Marseille’s 77th-minute dismissal. The late advantage cannot explain those earlier opportunities. Across these appearances, both duration and chance supply vary too much to reduce his prospects to whether he scored last time. A substantial role with repeated assisted openings is the stronger foundation; expecting another two-for-two performance or a goal from a lone difficult shot is a separate finishing assumption.

À surveiller

Establish Torres’ likely minutes, then look for PSG supplying valuable assisted chances. The Lille misses leave a different outlook from Monaco’s absence of shots, while the Brest goal should not inflate expectations from weak service.

PLAYER PASS ATTEMPTS

Antoine Mille: the 50-pass Strasbourg game required more than a full appearance

Antoine Mille played 90 minutes against both Strasbourg and Angers, but attempted 50 passes in the former match and 30 in the latter. Troyes’ passing pool fell from 376 to 306, while Mille’s opposition-half passes dropped from 33 to 19 and own-half passes from 17 to 11. His higher total required both more team circulation and a larger personal contribution to it. A full game gave him the opportunity, but did not establish a fixed passing workload.

The shorter outings make that distinction clearer. Mille attempted 34 passes in 78 minutes against Lorient, despite Troyes holding only 33% possession, and 30 in 80 minutes against Lille. Those figures are close to the full-match Angers count. His nine passes against Paris FC came in only 15 minutes and should be treated as a different appearance type, not evidence that a normal-length role is intrinsically low volume. For a future matchup, establishing his likely duration is the first step. Once that is comparable, the Strasbourg ceiling depends on Troyes involving him repeatedly in both buildup and advanced exchanges; merely projecting 90 minutes or a modest possession improvement misses the main condition.

À surveiller

If Mille is set for a long appearance, distinguish the Strasbourg level of personal involvement from the Angers role. More advanced exchanges through him provide a stronger reason for a high count than minutes alone.

PLAYER GOALS

Ally Samatta: seven shots against Angers offered less scoring quality than one Toulouse chance

Ally Samatta’s seven attempts against Angers produced only approximately 0.22 xG. None was worth more than 0.06, even though three reached the target and another hit the post. That was an active shooting performance built from low-probability opportunities, not a succession of chances he would normally be expected to finish. Against Toulouse, his three attempts totalled approximately 0.81 xG, dominated by the 0.69-xG chance he converted late in the match. The smaller shot count gave him a much stronger scoring opportunity.

His other appearances support the same distinction. Samatta scored against Lyon from an assisted chance worth about 0.18 xG, while his other three attempts were blocked. Against Brest he had four attempts for approximately 0.29 xG without scoring, including an effort against the post before Le Havre’s 47th-minute dismissal. The dismissal matters for the match’s later service, but most of his attempts had already occurred. These examples make a high shots total an incomplete guide to his scoring prospects. A future opponent allowing Le Havre to reach him with a valuable close chance is more relevant than one allowing frequent but difficult attempts, even if the latter produces several targets.

À surveiller

Separate repeated low-value attempts from a genuinely valuable chance reaching Samatta. The Toulouse opportunity supports a scoring case more strongly than the seven-shot Angers total; minutes alone did not create that difference.

PLAYER PASS ATTEMPTS

Stanis Idumbo: Monaco’s passing role matters more than the length of his appearance alone

Stanis Idumbo attempted 33 passes in 72 minutes against Strasbourg, more than his 26 in 87 minutes at PSG. Monaco’s team passing pool was much larger against Strasbourg, 562 versus 352, and Idumbo took part in more exchanges on both sides of halfway: own-half passes rose from nine to 11 and opposition-half passes from 17 to 22. The shorter appearance still provided more passing opportunities because his time on the pitch contained a different circulation pattern.

PSG and Marseille offer a more revealing personal-involvement comparison. Monaco attempted almost identical team totals, 352 and 355, and Idumbo played 87 and 85 minutes. Yet he attempted 26 passes at PSG against 18 versus Marseille, with four additional passes in each half of the pitch. Lower Monaco possession at PSG did not prevent the higher individual total. Le Havre fell between them at 21 passes in 81 minutes. Across these four recorded appearances, the useful expectation is conditional on how Monaco involve Idumbo rather than a simple conversion from team possession or minutes. The Strasbourg count requires substantial circulation around him; an efficient Monaco attack with fewer exchanges can support a useful attacking performance without that passing volume.

À surveiller

Look for Idumbo involved in both deeper and advanced exchanges. Strasbourg supplied more opportunities despite fewer minutes, while the PSG–Marseille comparison shows that similar team totals can distribute very differently to him.

Vitinha: his PSG passing ceiling rises when advanced circulation stays concentrated around him

Vitinha attempted 114 passes against Lille, with 80 in the opposition half, compared with 93 against Monaco, including 56 beyond halfway. Both appearances lasted 90 minutes. His own-half work increased slightly against Monaco, from 34 to 37, but could not offset the loss of 24 advanced passes. This was a change in where he participated, not a playing-time effect. The recorded January 2026 meeting with Lille supplies a useful comparison: he attempted 101 passes in 90 minutes, with 61 in the opposition half. The newer Lille total was supported by more advanced involvement and a larger PSG passing pool.

That does not make team possession a sufficient predictor. Vitinha attempted 103 passes against Marseille even though PSG made only 632 overall, fewer than the 755 against Monaco; 74 of his passes were in the opposition half. Marseille’s dismissal after 77 minutes is relevant context for that match. Against Brest he reached 92, with deeper passes rising to 44 while advanced passes fell to 48. Those compensating roles can keep his total substantial without reproducing the Lille ceiling. For another fixture, the strongest high-volume case combines a long appearance with repeated PSG exchanges through Vitinha beyond halfway, rather than relying solely on the team being expected to dominate the ball.

À surveiller

For the larger Vitinha totals, look for sustained advanced exchanges involving him. Deeper buildup can support a solid count when that access falls, but the Monaco and Brest examples show why it may not reproduce the Lille ceiling.

Branco van den Boomen: deeper buildup can sustain his passing when advanced exchanges decline

Branco van den Boomen attempted 67 passes against Troyes, almost matching his 68 against Lille, but the work occurred in different areas. Against Troyes he made 40 passes in his own half and 27 in the opposition half. Against Lille the split was 33 and 35. Both appearances lasted 90 minutes. A reduction in advanced passing therefore did not bring a similar reduction in his overall count because deeper circulation replaced it.

The Auxerre and Rennes comparison isolates the same mechanism. Van den Boomen attempted 29 opposition-half passes in each, but his total increased from 47 at Auxerre to 55 against Rennes as own-half passes rose from 18 to 26. Angers also made more team passes against Rennes, providing additional buildup work. Le Havre offered a more balanced route to 65, split 28 in his own half and 37 beyond halfway. This makes an exclusively attacking interpretation of his passing misleading. He can accumulate a substantial total while Angers recycle the ball deeper, and an opponent restricting advanced access does not automatically remove that workload. The lower case is a match that reduces his involvement in both areas, as the Auxerre comparison illustrates.

À surveiller

Watch whether deeper buildup compensates when Van den Boomen’s advanced involvement falls. The Troyes and Rennes examples show how that can preserve or lift his total without more opposition-half passing.

PLAYER SHOTS ON TARGET

Loïs Openda: nine attempts supplied three targets, but his best Auxerre chance missed

Loïs Openda took nine shots against Auxerre and reached the target three times without scoring. His best chance, worth approximately 0.65 xG, missed after 16 minutes; three later attempts were blocked. The three targets were therefore not the same thing as converting his strongest opportunities into accurate finishes. Against Le Havre he needed only four attempts to produce two targets and a goal, with the finish coming from a corner chance worth about 0.27 xG.

Paris FC then removed the shooting supply altogether: Openda recorded no attempt in 75 minutes. Against Rennes, he had three attempts in 79 minutes, but the only target came from a roughly 0.02-xG chance, while a more valuable assisted opportunity missed. These are materially different conditions for his next match. Repeated Lyon service can give him enough attempts to accumulate targets despite some misses and blocks, as Auxerre showed. If that service disappears, however, a longer appearance or an expectation that Lyon will attack does not automatically restore his personal shooting. The stronger case needs Lyon repeatedly finding Openda as the finisher, with access to attempts that can get beyond defenders.

À surveiller

Look for a return of Openda’s personal shot supply before relying on his Auxerre target count. Then separate the quality of the attempts he misses from the lower-quality ones he puts on target.

PLAYER GOALS

Paris Brunner: Monaco’s wins help only when the valuable chances reach him

Paris Brunner scored against Lens from an assisted chance worth approximately 0.68 xG and had another worth 0.35 saved. Those two openings accounted for most of his 1.06 xG and gave him a stronger scoring platform than his Strasbourg goal, which came from an attempt worth roughly 0.04. Both matches yielded one Brunner goal, but the Lens service offers much firmer support for a similar outcome in a future matchup.

His Marseille double also contained meaningful quality: a set-piece finish and an assisted chance worth approximately 0.61 xG. Monaco’s win at PSG, by contrast, supplied Brunner only one low-value attempt in 73 minutes while teammates scored both goals. The team result did not translate into personal scoring opportunity. At Le Havre, he received four chances in a shorter 57-minute appearance, with two blocked and another saved, totalling about 0.70 xG without a goal. These comparisons put the emphasis on service to Brunner rather than Monaco’s form or his last finish. A long appearance is helpful, but valuable assisted openings or set-piece chances are the conditions that have supported his strongest scoring performances.

À surveiller

Look for Monaco finding Brunner with the valuable service seen against Lens and Marseille. A team win can bypass him, as PSG showed, while the low-probability Strasbourg finish should not be treated as a repeatable scoring baseline.

PLAYER GOALS

Gessime Yassine: the Lens double required both targets to become goals

Gessime Yassine scored twice against Lens from three attempts worth approximately 0.39 xG. His goals came from an assisted chance worth about 0.11 and a fast-break chance worth 0.22; both shots on target went in. That was effective finishing from two different routes, but not a large stream of high-quality opportunities. Repeating the goal return from similar service would again require very efficient conversion.

The Monaco match is a useful counterexample. Yassine’s total chance quality was only slightly lower, approximately 0.33 xG, but most of it belonged to an assisted chance he missed before halftime. His later saved attempt was worth only about 0.04. The absence of a goal therefore reflected the outcome of the better chance, not necessarily a total disappearance of service. Against Paris FC the issue was more fundamental: he played 87 minutes without a recorded shot. The Marseille appearance was also low quality, with two attempts for approximately 0.09 xG, one before and one after Strasbourg’s dismissal. For another fixture, the first question is whether he is receiving chances at all, followed by whether their quality can support scoring without another perfect target conversion rate.

À surveiller

A matchup supplying Yassine with assisted chances and transition openings gives him a route to goal. Distinguish a missed valuable opportunity, as against Monaco, from Paris FC’s complete lack of shooting supply.

PLAYER PASS ATTEMPTS

Amine Sbai: a long appearance is not enough if Angers’ passing bypasses him

Amine Sbai attempted only nine passes in 81 minutes at Auxerre, compared with 36 across 90 minutes against Lille. Nine extra minutes cannot account for that difference. Angers made 317 team passes at Auxerre and 472 against Lille, but Sbai’s personal involvement changed more sharply: he attempted eight passes in the opposition half at Auxerre against 28 in the Lille match. His low count reflects a small role in the available circulation, rather than simply being withdrawn a little earlier.

Troyes gives a useful limit to the possession argument. Angers held 61% possession and attempted 496 passes, both higher than against Lille, yet Sbai finished with 27 passes in 85 minutes. His own-half contribution was eight in both matches; the difference was opposition-half passes falling from 28 to 19. Le Havre, meanwhile, allowed 24 advanced passes and 29 overall in 88 minutes. The stronger setup for Sbai’s passing is therefore one in which Angers repeatedly use him beyond halfway. A team performance built on possession elsewhere—or on a small number of decisive attacks—can leave his count modest even when he plays most of the match.

À surveiller

Look for Angers’ advanced exchanges running through Sbai, not just a large team possession share. The Auxerre low was primarily an involvement issue, while Troyes shows that more team passes need not restore his Lille total.

PLAYER GOALS

Ludovic Ajorque: extra attempts have often added little scoring quality

Ludovic Ajorque took seven shots against Le Mans for approximately 0.53 xG, almost the same total quality as his three attempts against Toulouse. The Toulouse performance included a set-piece chance worth about 0.35 xG that he converted late; the Le Mans attempts were more dispersed, with none worth as much. Seven shots gave him more attempts, but not a stronger overall scoring platform. Five missed the target and the other two were saved.

The Le Havre match is another warning against inferring his scoring prospects from Brest’s favorable circumstances. Le Havre played with ten men from the 47th minute, yet Ajorque’s three attempts totalled only about 0.08 xG. His four attempts against PSG were similarly limited at approximately 0.12 xG, and he recorded no shot in 86 minutes against Auxerre. Those are supply-quality issues rather than a simple run of unlucky finishing. The stronger next-match condition is Brest delivering a valuable set-piece or assisted chance to Ajorque, not merely granting him more low-probability attempts. Even a numerical advantage did not automatically produce that service against Le Havre.

À surveiller

Look for at least one substantial chance reaching Ajorque, rather than an inflated count of difficult shots. The Toulouse set-piece opportunity mattered more to his scoring than the extra attempts against Le Mans or the man advantage against Le Havre.

OVER AND UNDER 2.5 TOTAL GOALS

Troyes: the eight-goal Strasbourg game was an open contest with unusually efficient opposition finishing

Troyes and Strasbourg generated approximately 5.89 combined xG in their 2–6 match, so there was genuine attacking opportunity at both ends. Strasbourg nevertheless scored six from 2.95 xG, including several modest second-half finishes. The game supports the idea of an open chance environment, but not an expectation that the same supply normally creates eight goals.

Lorient’s 1–2 defeat had a different three-goal route, with a Troyes penalty contributing to 3.27 combined xG. The 0–2 Angers defeat had a similar 3.42 combined xG but Troyes did not score, while Lille restricted Troyes enough for the 2–0 result to carry only about 2.03 combined xG. Paris FC’s 0–0 also included major opposition misses, rather than complete defensive control. For the next total, the useful distinction is whether Troyes can preserve a meaningful attacking contribution and whether the opponent creates or merely finishes efficiently. A large corner or shot count without valuable chances makes Troyes less able to help carry the score.

À surveiller

Look for meaningful chances from both attacks before extending the Strasbourg result. Its extreme score included strong conversion; the Angers and Lille comparisons show why Troyes’ own service must be assessed separately.

OVER 1.5 TEAM GOALS

Troyes: repeated corners need to become valuable chances before they support multiple goals

Troyes took 11 corners against both Strasbourg and Angers, yet scored twice in one match and not at all in the other. Strasbourg allowed approximately 2.94 Troyes xG, including a major late assisted finish, while Angers allowed only 1.16 despite 19 Troyes shots. The identical corner count did not mean identical scoring opportunity. Against Angers, only three attempts reached the target; the activity was much stronger than the finishing access.

The Lorient win had better quality at 2.12 xG but included a penalty among Troyes’ two goals. Paris FC and Lille restricted the attack more fundamentally, allowing only 0.42 and 0.38 xG. Those blanks were not simply another instance of a high-quality chance stream going unconverted. For another multiple-goal case, Troyes need opponents allowing substantial assisted or set-piece chances, rather than merely repeated corners or possession near the box. The Strasbourg service supports that condition; the Angers corner total alone does not. A penalty can help, as at Lorient, but it should remain separate from expectations of ordinary finishing.

À surveiller

Look for corner and attacking pressure producing valuable, accurate opportunities. Eleven corners were enough to signal activity against Angers, but not the quality behind Troyes’ two-goal Strasbourg performance.

BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE

Troyes: the Strasbourg goals do not erase the much weaker service in other matches

Troyes created approximately 2.94 xG against Strasbourg and scored twice, including a very valuable late assisted chance. It also allowed 2.95 xG and 12 targets, with Strasbourg converting six times. That match supplied real opportunities at both ends, although Strasbourg’s finishing made the score far more extreme than the balanced xG totals alone would suggest.

Lille and Paris FC restricted Troyes to 0.38 and 0.42 xG respectively, and Troyes failed to score in both. Angers allowed more activity—19 shots and 11 corners—but only three targets and 1.16 xG, so the increased volume still did not produce a goal. The Lorient win offered a stronger scoring platform at 2.12 xG, but included a Troyes penalty. For a future exchange of goals, Troyes need useful personal service rather than merely a large corner count, while the opponent must retain meaningful attacking threat. The Strasbourg match demonstrates that route, but its eight-goal final score should not override the low-service examples or imply that conversion will be equally extreme again.

À surveiller

Look for Troyes restoring valuable chances, not just shots or corners. Lille and Paris FC removed that service; Angers allowed activity without enough accurate quality, while Strasbourg supplied a much more open opportunity environment.
